She knew it was probably a bad idea to do it but Uncle Howard said it was okay to play wherever, right? He definitely said something like that. Maybe. Sort of.

Sarah may or may not have pressed a few buttons that caused the shiny lights to appear and things to kind of go boom. Maybe. Okay, she definitely did but that was okay because Howard said it was okay, right? Or maybe he mumbled it, Sarah didn't hear

That didn't really help her now that she tumbled out into somewhere that didn't look familiar at all.

"Hello?" she called out.

He had arranged for them to meet at a diner around the corner from Dr. Mallone's apartment. Normally, he would've held all client meetings at the office, but the last two days had revealed a lot. Firstly, that Dr. Mallone was in fact, by all definitions, missing. Secondly that the office was definitely being watched by Saunder's men.

It hadn't taken much to let Mallone's landlady let him into the apartment. Though when she'd pushed the door open it was obvious that someone else had already beat him to it. The place had been a disaster. Every drawer had been pulled out of it's place. Every piece of furniture overturned and thoroughly searched. Bruce had half been expecting to find the body of Mallone among the wreckage but there had been no trace of the older man.

Whoever had been there had clearly been looking for something. Whether or not they'd found it had been unclear. He'd reached out to what little family the man had. None of them had heard from him in weeks. There had been no signs of a drinking or gambling problem. No sign of an affair between him and a married woman. The doctor had simply up and disappeared one day, just as Mrs. Samson had thought.

The only clue, in fact, had been that his car had been found abandoned down by the river. There'd been no blood or reason to believe foul play, but the keys had been left in the engine. Not a normal practice, to say the least.

He sipped the extraordinarily bitter coffee the waitress had brought him and waited for Mrs. Samson. He had a feeling she wasn't going to like what information he had to give her.

[Cue one awkwardly lingering Bruce Banner, complete with a brown paper bag with fancy restaurant logo and a sheepish expression as he waits outside her office.]

Um- I didn't have an appointment, but I thought you might be working late? [After hours in Stark Tower and even Pepper's loyal receptionist has clocked out.]

The big day is finally here and Betty shifts between being extremely nervous one minute, and completely calm the next. Guests are arriving already, and after the short ceremony there is going to be a comfortable reception.

Even though the approach to this wedding has been somewhat casual, there is no mistaking the investment in time and effort. It's an outdoor wedding, and the gazebo couldn't be decorated any further, flowers and ribbons are basically everywhere.

If you hurry, you can catch the bride to wish her luck!

It was a date.

But it wasn't that kind of a date. It was just two people agreeing to meet up at a specific time, for a specific purpose. The first planned get together that Bruce had participated in since the advent of the Hulk. He was still a bit nervous about the idea, to be completely truthful.

As requested, he set up the night time picnic area with blankets and pillows and those 'convenient' folding chairs that actually were harder to unfold than they claimed... and Pepper was going to bring the drinks.

"There, all set. What could possibly go wrong?" Well, talking to himself for starters.

Natasha wasn’t really familiar with the whole concept of “girl’s night”. She hadn’t had much of a childhood to speak of and had been forced to grow up far too fast. There hadn’t been time to have sleepovers and talk about boys while she had been training and killing whomever she was pointed at. SHIELD wasn’t much different in some ways, and though there were often opportunities to be social, she wasn’t really one to partake in them.

She had always gotten along with the boys better anyway; women never seemed to like her that much, so imagine her surprise when Pepper, not Tony, asked her over to Stark Tower after her most recent mission.

Striding into the kitchen she was the picture of ease and confidence despite her inner confusion. She found Pepper in the process of making drinks, hopefully for more than just the two of them considering the size of the pitcher. “Sorry I’m late. The debriefing took a little longer than expected.

After saving the world (or at least the city) for the tenth time, what is a group of superheroes to do to celebrate? In Clint Barton’s mind there was only one way: Karaoke. Dinner out had been done to death, and most of them had fallen asleep at the theatre so this time they needed something lively and with lots of alcohol available. Sure, they could have had their own private karaoke party at Avengers Tower, but Clint had convinced them that half the fun of it was getting up in front of a bar full of strangers and making idiots out or themselves. Thor and Tony had agreed easily enough, but the rest he was convinced had eventually only given in to shut him up.

He might have also threatened like only a stealthy sniper could do and actually back up.

They had started the party at the tower with Tony’s ample liquor supply, then continued it in the car before they all finally spilled into the chosen bar already half in the bag. Well, some of them, at least.

“So who’s first?” Clint asked with a wide smile, picking up one of the songbooks off the table as they all crammed themselves into a booth.

It had been a few weeks since the destruction of the majority of Stark Tower, and though Pepper couldn't exactly blame Tony for the strain on their relationship. It was difficult to deal with him, and the guilt of costing them both millions in property damage. It left her with a shorter fuse than he could handle. So Pepper opted to return to Malibu for a while, and Tony spent his sudden increase of free time playing hero with a renewed enthusiasm.

That didn't put an end to her responsibilities as CEO either. A close thing, but Tony refused to accept anyone else could actually run his company with any amount of success. The occasional sacrifice of a building seemed a small prize to pay, at least that's what he'd professed.

Pepper believed him, reluctantly.

She also reluctantly continued to attend the events she was expected to. Without Tony to accompany her, it was almost as if she'd returned to being an invisible assistant. Albeit, generally thought to be an attractive woman in the right dress, but nothing striking in itself.

Downtime. The phrase seemed almost alien to Natasha, who spent most of her time working in some way or another. When she wasn’t on a job, she was usually preparing for another job, in what seemed like an endless cycle of work, work, and even more work. It was a cycle that had started when she was a child, and, when it came down to it, she liked it. What was it people did with their time off, anyway? Sit around idly, perfectly content to do absolutely nothing? It was a concept that she didn’t understand.

Every once in a while, though, it was nice, she supposed. She still wasn’t exactly sure what to do with herself, but the people around her always managed to come up with something, so it wasn’t a waste. It could actually be fun. As long as it didn’t last too long, anyway. And sometimes, after a mission, it really was good just to spend some time winding down with a friend before getting ready to go out and save the world again.

She’d never admit it out loud (for fear of feeding his ego), but Barton was her favorite person to spend time with outside of work. There was just something about him that managed to get her to loosen up every time, and, at times, that was something she sorely needed. This was why, after returning to base from a classified mission to a classified location, she found himself at his door, knocking.

That's pretty much everything, aside from the most important rule being 'have fun!'.
