It had been a few weeks since the destruction of the majority of Stark Tower, and though Pepper couldn't exactly blame Tony for the strain on their relationship. It was difficult to deal with him, and the guilt of costing them both millions in property damage. It left her with a shorter fuse than he could handle. So Pepper opted to return to Malibu for a while, and Tony spent his sudden increase of free time playing hero with a renewed enthusiasm.

That didn't put an end to her responsibilities as CEO either. A close thing, but Tony refused to accept anyone else could actually run his company with any amount of success. The occasional sacrifice of a building seemed a small prize to pay, at least that's what he'd professed.

Pepper believed him, reluctantly.

She also reluctantly continued to attend the events she was expected to. Without Tony to accompany her, it was almost as if she'd returned to being an invisible assistant. Albeit, generally thought to be an attractive woman in the right dress, but nothing striking in itself.

[Bruce tugs at his tie, loosening it the tiniest bit as he looks out across the massive ballroom. He's attended black tie affairs before, but nothing like this. He tries not to think of the collective wealth in this room, or the amount of it being worn around necks and wrists tonight and how far it would go in other, far less desirable places in the world.

A caterer offers him a glass of champagne and he takes it reluctantly when she refuses to move on. Obviously, Tony's coached the staff.] Thank you.

[He holds it awkwardly, calculating just how long he should stay before he slips out.]

After saving the world (or at least the city) for the tenth time, what is a group of superheroes to do to celebrate? In Clint Barton’s mind there was only one way: Karaoke. Dinner out had been done to death, and most of them had fallen asleep at the theatre so this time they needed something lively and with lots of alcohol available. Sure, they could have had their own private karaoke party at Avengers Tower, but Clint had convinced them that half the fun of it was getting up in front of a bar full of strangers and making idiots out or themselves. Thor and Tony had agreed easily enough, but the rest he was convinced had eventually only given in to shut him up.

He might have also threatened like only a stealthy sniper could do and actually back up.

They had started the party at the tower with Tony’s ample liquor supply, then continued it in the car before they all finally spilled into the chosen bar already half in the bag. Well, some of them, at least.

“So who’s first?” Clint asked with a wide smile, picking up one of the songbooks off the table as they all crammed themselves into a booth.
