[She's out relaxing and eating popcorn as the fireworks are flying into the sky. Just in amazement. She'd never let anyone really know that it was her birthday, mostly because she didn't feel like turning ninety something]

You know, those are always better to watch with company.

[She's surprised and looks up from where she's curled up on the couch she personally brought up on the rooftop of her apartment building with a blanket across her lap. The fireworks keep exploding overhead and Steph figures that Tony probably got bored of a party to come all the way out here]

I don't really have anyone to watch it with. Even Mrs. Wazowski is out with her grandkids to watch it with them. Aren't you supposed to be at a party or something?

Really? Haven't you figured it out already? [He shamelessly takes a seat on her couch, lifting her feet briefly and setting them back down in his lap. Also, the blanket is a nice thing to share, why thank you Cap.]

[She gives him a stern look as he makes himself right at home without so much as a "how do you do?" but doesn't shove him off the couch. She's in too good of a mood to give him any kind of guff. Steph's morning had started with Mrs. Wazowski giving her tupperware after tupperware full of food to heat up later for her birthday and a wish to not spend it alone. She really hadn't been alone on purpose. It happened that way.]

Mr. Party ought to be somewhere like Manhattan, right? Celebrating with everyone? Not the middle of Brooklyn?

[And how did he get here without all the flash? She didn't hear his suit. Maybe the fireworks covered up the noise]

[Occasionally, he does simply drive. For the novelty of it. The point being that Tony gets where he wants to go and doesn't really make a habit of asking permission first.]

You are hung up a lot on the 'shoulds' of life. Try to relax, it's your birthday, after all.

[She gives him a sidelong glance]

How did you know it's my birthday?

[She's pretty sure that's classified information. Something she rarely gave out. She's happy with her cupcake and homecooked meal even if she had to reheat it]

[Sure it is. Tony wouldn't have bothered to look it up if it wasn't classified.]

Better question, how do you know it's your birthday? Pretty convenient if you ask me. It could just be a mental suggestion they embedded into you when they pumped you full of chemicals.

[that makes her laugh a little]

Because it says it on my birth certificate and my enlistment papers?

Obviously forged. I mean, Captain America. Born on the fourth of July. It doesn't take a conspiracy nut to crack that one. [Which Tony is anyway.]

Fine, believe what you want, Tony. I already got my cupcake. Remind me to crash and question your birthday.
